Growing up on Vashon Island, a small town with a large arts community, Abraham Freshwater has been immersed in music since a young age. His music education started at home, being taught his first song by his older brother. Abraham quickly began to learn new instruments; playing saxophone in the school band, trumpet and bass in high school jazz band, and learning drums at home. His passion for guitar brought him to take lessons with jazz fusion master Don Mock, who convinced Abraham to teach guitar while still in high school. After studying with Don for a number of years, Abraham went on to study at Musician’s Institute in the heart of Hollywood, California.
After school, his guitar prowess and adaptability led to him being quickly picked up for cruise ship work out of New Orleans. A desire to write music full-time drove him back to Los Angeles, where he worked with several groups as a for-hire musician, band leader, songwriter and studio musician, respectively.
Abraham is comfortable playing in a number of styles, such as Jazz, R&B, Blues, Rock, Metal, and so on. He has been teaching guitar He believes that every student is an opportunity for growth and learning, not only for the student but for the teacher as well!
